With main assembly complete, it's time to break out the Lifecolor paints and add some colour.
The first thing that's needed is to spray the canopy with the interior colour.
Black was used to ensure the canopy is colour fast.
Everything, inckluding the airbrush trigger mechanism, then got a coat of AK Interactive grey primer. I'm sure coating the trigger won't come back to haunt me later!
I've recently seen someone pre-shading using black wash and decided to try something similar by brush painting the panel lines with black.
While preparing to spray, I realised that the primer had got into the mechamism and gummed up the needle, so I switched to another airbrush to use. Lifecolor RAF Sky was sprayed onto half of the underside.
After taking apart my main airbruch for cleaning, the sky was masked and the other half sprayed black. I alsi sprayed the waslkways on the top of the wing. It was about now that I remembered the sky band rouind the rear fuselage. This was sprayed, masked and the black touched up.
RAF Dark Earth and RAF Dark Green will be used for the top colours.
The Dark Earth gets sprayed first.
This was masked using white tack and then the green was sprayed.
After giving the paint a little time to dry, the masking was removed.
Not sure why the RAF painted the undersuide like this in the late 1930's but it looks OK.
A coat of gloss varnish is next, then it's onto the decals.
