Before paint the canopy needs to be masked and fitted.
To avoid cutting out the supplied masks, I used them as an excuse to get a vinyl cutter, so got myself a Silhouette Portrait. To make the mask I scanned the kit masks.
The image was loaded into the design software and the lines were traced before cutting. It took a few attempts to get the cutting depth right. The first try left the masks attached to the cutting film. A couple of tries later I got the settings right.
Not sure if the scan was slightly larger than the kit masks, or I should have traced the inside of the lines, but the masks came out slightky large so needed trimming.
There is a support frame behind the pilot's seat. One of the legs broke and was replaced with rod.
The is a floor mounted window. This was glues in unmasked as the chosen scheme has the window painted over.
The frame behind the cockpit was painted aluminium.
Then the canopy was glued into place with some PVA glue.
The propellor is made up of a number of parts.
The goes together nicely ready for painting.
The next step will be to break out the paint and try not to make not too much of a mess.
