Original designed to a British specification with an Allison engine, it really came into it's own when fitted with a Rolls Royce Merlin Engine. The P-51D was the first version with a bubble canopy and cut down rear fuselage. The top speed was about 440mph, and a maximum altitude of 41,000ft. With external fuel tanks, it had a range of 1650miles.
Another good kit from Airfix. It goes together well and looks nice when finished. The Vallejo Metal Color is new to me and they spray quite well. They are a little fragile but the sealer cures that issue. My onkly issue is that they are a little shinny. The Aeromaster decals a good and work well with MiG decal solutions, cionforming well. Never really tried oil washes before, but they are remarkable easy to use. Will try those again.
